Liam Livingstone, an English batsman, is seeking approval from the ECB to participate in the Indian Premier League and hopes to receive clearance by the end of the week. Livingstone sustained a knee injury during his Test debut in Pakistan four months ago and has not played competitive cricket since then. In addition, an ankle injury that he suffered last year flared up again, making his rehabilitation more difficult. He will miss Punjab Kings’ third match of the season against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 9th, but he may play in their fourth match on April 13th if he receives clearance.
In an interview with LancsTV during Lancashire’s opening County Championship fixture against Surrey, Livingstone stated that he has been going to the gym three to four times a week for the last three to four months and that he is “finally” getting closer to full fitness. He also received injections last week, which helped to alleviate his knee discomfort, allowing him to resume running and cricket-related activities. Livingstone previously recovered from his ankle injury to compete in the T20 World Cup, which England won.
Livingstone is a valuable asset for Punjab Kings, who retained him for Rs 11.50 crore before last year’s auction. Last season, he scored 437 runs at a strike rate of 182.08. He expressed his excitement about returning to cricket after a challenging couple of months, stating that he hopes to receive clearance to travel to India and play in the IPL soon.
